DEVELOPEMENT SQUAD | Back to Back Ganes This Week

The Development Squad play back to back games this week to catch up on as many missed fixtures as possible before the season ends in May.

Having beaten Ashton Athletic by a solitary goal a couple of weeks ago thanks to a Delial Brewster strike, the squad consolidated their position in second place in the Lancashire League West, with Lancaster City top on goal difference and Barnoldswick Town in third.  All three teams have twenty five points, although Lancaster have played fifteen games, and Barnoldswick have played twelve.

With Chorley having played nine games they head to the coast to face AFC Fylde tomorrow evening.  The Coasters currently sit in seventh place in the league, having taken fourteen points from twelve games.  In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, the young Magpies beat the young Coasters 2-1.  The game kicks off at 7.45 at Kellamergh Park.  For anybody wanting to travel to the game, the address is Bryning Lane, Warton, Lancashire PR4 1TN.

Action switches back to the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium on Thursday night when we welcome Ashton Athletic, who have amassed seventeen points from eleven. However the lads will be aware that Athletic will be no pushovers after their game a couple of weeks ago.  With no regular keeper available for the game, the squad look forward to welcoming back shot-stopper Kyle Haslam who signed for the Magpies on deadline day last week.

The game kicks off at 7.45 with entry by donation.  It would be great to see as many fans as possible to the ground to cheer on the lads.

U21 MATCH PREVIEW | Remaining Two Fixtures in March

We can now announce the remaining two fixtures in March, and everyone connected with the Development  Squad will be hoping that they survive the weather,

In a season which has been impacted heavily with weather-related postponements, the Under 21s are due to play this Thursday away to Ashton Athletic.  The senior squad played at Brocstedes Park earlier in the season in the first of their live TV FA Cup appearances, in a game where Nick Haughton famously scored the winning goal to take the Magpies through to the next qualifying round.

The young Magpies will also be hoping to leave as victors to keep up the pressure on Lancaster City who now top the Lancashire League West on goal difference,  Chorley sit in second spot with 22 points from 8 games, whilst their hosts are currenly in fifth spot with 15 points from 9 games.  For anybody wanting to travel to the game, the ground is at Brocstedes Park, Ashton-in-Makerfield.  The postcode for your SatNav is WN4 0NR.  Kick off is 7.45pm.

With no League fixture set for the final week of March the squad have been invited to play in a prestigious friendly against the FDA Academy.

The FDA Academy is aimed at players aged between 16-21 years old & consists of not only individuals we have identified and invited to join, but predominantly, we recruit players who have been released from professional football club academies as a scholar/first year professional. It is our aim to provide competitive football in a professional environment with the emphasis being on player development.

The FDA Academy play trial matches against professional/semi-professional football clubs U21's & development squads. Our objective is to provide a platform for players to showcase their abilities whilst accessing a pathway back into semi-professional or professional football.

The match will be played on one of the 3G pitches at the JMO Sports Park, Blaguegate Playing Fields, Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale WN8 8BX on Wednesday 28th March, with a 7.45pm kick off.

POSTPONED | Development Squad vs AFC Darwen

Unfortunately this evening's Development Squad game vs AFC Darwen has had to be called off following the snow in Chorley overnight.

The pitch at the Chorley Group Victory Park stadium is currently waterlogged with some snow still to thaw

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD | Home Fixture This Thursday vs AFC Darwen

The Development Squad is back in action this Thursday after the poor weather this season further dented the Lancashire League fixture list over recent weeks.

The game, to be played at the Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium sees the visit of AFC Darwen.  The young Magpies currently sit on top of the table with 22 points from 8 games while the visitors have taken 6 points from the same number of matches.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm – as usual entry is by donation.  With the seniors’ game cancelled last Saturday and playing away this weekend, this is a great opportunity to get your football fix.
