Welcome to Chorley FC

CHORLEY FOOTBALL CLUB is a non-league football club based in Lancashire that is steeped in history.

Originally formed back in 1875 as a rugby club, the Magpies converted to the round ball game in 1883 and have competed in various leagues throughout the clubs history, picking up silverware at regular intervals.

The club has tasted success in the FA Cup; defeating league sides Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1986 and Bury in 1990.  We have also reached the semi-finals of the FA Trophy; tantalisingly just one step away from Wembley, going out to the eventual winners!

The team currently play in the Vanarama National League North.

During the summer of 2010 leading motor dealership The Chorley Group signed a deal to become the main club sponsor, with the ground being renamed The Chorley Group Victory Park Stadium.

In the summer of 2011 the club announced that a local charity, Derian House Childrens Hospice emblazoned across the home shirts.  Then for season 2012 a unique sponsorship raffle raised thousands of pounds and saw 200 businesses and individuals take part, with the winner Barrett Steel Services Ltd having their company name printing on the home shirt for the 2012/13 season.

The most famous 'son' of Chorley is without doubt former England, Ipswich Town and Arsenal striker Paul Mariner, who started his career at Victory Park prior to being sold to Plymouth Argyle in 1973 for £20,000 - no a small sum of money in those days - the equivalent of about £250,000 in today's money allowing for inflation!

Many players have plied their trade with the Magpies before launching their football league careers; including Mickey Walsh (Blackpool & Everton), Graham Barrow (Wigan Athletic), Lee Trundle (Wrexham, Swansea City, Bristol City & Leeds United), Steve Jones (Crewe, Burnley, Walsall, Motherwell & Northern Ireland) & Kevin Ellison (Leicester City, Stockport, Hull City, Tranmere & Rotherham) to name just five.  While famous names have also appears at Chorley in the twilight of their careers, including Frank Worthington (Leicester City & England), Shaun Teale (Aston Villa) current vice-chairman Brian Pilkington (Burnley & England) and of course Matt Jansen (Crystal Palace & Blackburn Rovers).

The team are currently managed by former Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace star Matt Jansen, who took over from his friend and former Ewood Park team mate Garry Flitcroft in the summer of 2015 after five spectacularly successful season’s under Flitcrofts guidance with Jansen assisting where the club won two promotions and two county cups.
